I then booted up the server with this new image and the installation of Windows 2003 server complete as expected and all things were now working as expected.Īfter all the server setup was completed and all applications installed I wanted to create a server backup image that I could restore the operating system back to. I then created a new ISO image and burnt this to a DVD. OK, I downloaded nLite which is a freeware slip-stream application and then using nLite I slip-streamed the Dell S100 drivers into the Windows 2003 operating system. I also tried a Windows 2008 Server install CD and this did not work either. The root cause of my problem was the Microsoft 2003 Install CD did not have the Dell Proprietor software RAID controller drivers. OK, I tried to install Windows 2003 Server R2 64-bit operating system on this new out of the box server, only to find out the Microsoft Store Windows 2003 install CD loaded part way up and then it hung. This controller is a software driven controller versus a hardware driven RAID controller. This server was using a Dell Perc S100 RAID controller. ![]() In a past thread that has now timed out and now not visible unless you back date the threads, I has a thread about trying to make a Disaster Recovery boot CD for a new Dell PowerEdge T-110 server.
